Mentoroid is a coaching companion. It offers advice using DOTA 2's Game State Integration and information visible on your game screen. You still make every decision and play the game yourself.
It doesn't automate gameplay or modify DOTA 2's game process. As with any coaching aid, follow Valve's rules and any additional rules set by your tournament organizer.
No. It gives advice. Moving, casting, buying items and deciding what to do are all up to you.
Mentoroid runs alongside DOTA 2 as a separate app, using Valve's Game State Integration and screen reading. It doesn't inject code into DOTA 2, read its memory or control your hero. Processing is capped, and the coach hibernates when DOTA 2 closes. Mentoroid is an independent product, not affiliated with or endorsed by Valve.
It uses Valve's Game State Integration (GSI), a data feed provided by DOTA 2, along with screen reading: in the draft it reads the picks in the top bar, and in game it reads the items on an enemy you select. After the game, it analyzes the replay for a more detailed review.
For a closer look, read the community guide to DOTA 2's GSI or the Valve Developer Community reference, which covers GSI in Counter-Strike.
Yes. Timed, smart and event calls can be re-timed, reworded or muted for each role. You can also write up to 20 prompts of your own and pick when they play, and build up to 25 if-then rules on live game facts. Hero and item detection calls are automatic.
All five, from carry to hard support, and it scores you against players at your own rank. The Lane Farming Review, which replays your first 10 minutes, is for carries for now; other roles are coming soon.
On your computer. The app turns coaching text into speech locally, rather than sending audio back and forth to a server.
Through a Game State Integration config file: the data feed Valve provides for apps that run alongside DOTA 2. The coach reads your match from that feed and from your screen.
The beta is available for Windows, macOS and Linux. On Linux, use an X11 session. Until the new Linux installer is out, Linux uses the previous app; the downloads page explains how.
Yes. Download it and use it in your next match.
DOTA 2 only, for now. The beta is focused on getting DOTA 2 coaching right.
